Tidy ish craft room

I have spent the best part of 4 days trying to tidy my craft room .It's not "tidy" but it's usable! Thought I'd post a couple of piccies as let's face it, it won't be like this for long!!

This is part of my set of bookcases where I keep some stickers, freebies, bakers twine, envelopes, 6x6 and 8x8 paper pads and some other bits.

This is the other half where I keep paint, magazines, ink pads and "stuff". On the floor in front I have a box of ribbons, a box of sticky tape and a trug full of card blanks.

I keep all my buttons in jars on the shelves and wrapping paper and paper bags in the trays. My clear blocks and topper bits are in the storage unit and there are some stickers hanging underneath the shelves. I've moved most of my stickers as I didn't want them above the radiator.

This is my desk and my chest of drawers holds my finished cards and templates and yet more stickers. All my embossing powders are in boxes on the shelves and the punches are in a box along with other random stuff.

A better view of the desk. I keep the tie dyed baby grows in the wardrobe along with sheets and other linen.

This is my favourite bit - an IKEA bookcase on its side with all my A4 card and 12x12 paper pads in it. Big machines and crafting tools like bug, scoreboards etc stored on top and on the windowsill you can see the beginnings of this year's veg patch sprouting away!!

In fact, I took these the other day and already I don't think it's this tidy now. There's the rest of my evening sorted!!!

My challenge!

If I'm honest, I don't really know enough about blogging yet to host a challenge but I have set myself a personal challenge. I was looking for something in my newly tidied craft room yesterday (I can never find things after I've tidied up!) and discovered a pile of stamps that for one reason or another, haven't been put onto laminated sheets along with all my others. Now a large number of these haven't even been opened. I have to be honest, I'm quite ashamed of myself!

So I have set myself a personal challenge - I am NOT allowed to put them back into the drawer until they have been used, either to make a card, scrapbook page or something else. It's been a day and I'm already niggled that my beautifully tidy craft room has stuff out that can't be put away so if I stick to my guns, I might just manage this!!

Coincidentally, an old thread has been revived on docrafts today. At the beginning of the year someone posted a thread setting themselves the challenge of using up all that old craft stash that lots of have lying around. I signed up, yeah, I'll do this!! Needless to say, I haven't done this at all, I have just shopped in a ridiculous manner and added to the huge amount of stuff I already have (and clearly don't use!). Since setting myself this challenge, I have now added to it and am vowing that each of my cards using a previously unused stamp must also include some piece of stash that's been sitting around for ages!

I'm hoping that by posting this message on here, I will have to stick to it!! Feel free to have a go if I'm not!!!
Happy crafting everyone xx

Thank you cards

What a gorgeous day!! The sun is shining, my veg seeds are sprouting and there are 5 very happy chickens racing round the garden! Hopefully going to see the titanic exhibition today, so looking forward to that.

I've been trying to refill my card drawer at the moment as its a bit empty. I gave my sister a huge box of cards for Christmas and pretty much emptied my supply and am slowly trying to rebuild it. I always like to have a few thank you cards so have made a variety based on the following design.

Its a 4" square card made from white textured card stock with paper I got free with a magazine years ago. I'm trying to make use of all the freebies I buy e magazines for then never seem to use! The stamp is one of the papermania typography stamps which I think also came with a diie cutter to cut the words out but I have a feeling I couldn't get it to work so just hand cut them. I then stuck it onto orange card and cut round the outside. I punched a star and put that on a foam pad in the middle of the o stuck a little flower in the corner using a brad. The corners are rounded with the WRMK corner chomper.

Hope everyone has a lovely crafty or gardeningy day xx

Sympathy card

Not the kind of card I like to make and not a good photo of it either, but a friend at work lost her mum last week so I just wanted to make her a card to let her know I'm thinking about her. Think the stamp is by paper artsy but really not sure. The ink is a white docrafts artiste and I'm quite impressed, although you can't see it very well in the photo.

Next card I make will definitely be a cheerful one xx

And following on from that........

After making my heart cards, I was left with a very thin heart frame. They gave me an idea, so paired with some strips of paper I had left from other projects, I made these cards

Heart cards

How exciting - a crafty post!! I've actually made some cards! It's a miracle!
I bought some washi tape and wanted to try it out so cut a heart from the middle of a 6x6 Kraft card using spellbinders hearts nesting dies. I then cut the heart with the smaller die to make a smaller heart. I covered the smaller heart with stripes of the red and pink washi tape and stuck it in the middle of the heart shaped hole.
It doesn't give you a lot of space to write inside the card but I always struggle with what to write so that suits me fine!
I then drew a white dashed line on the front of the card to highlight it a bit
